Dobies Health Marketing Expands Rural Health Marketing with Amy Northrop as New Division Director

Amy Northrop, Director, Rural Health Division
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Dobies Health Marketing is proud to welcome Amy Northrop to our strategy-first marketing team. With three decades’ experience in healthcare marketing, business development, physician relations and more, Amy’s in-depth understanding of the challenges in small and mid-size markets makes her the perfect fit to lead our expanding Rural Health Division.
In this new role, Amy manages rural health and hospital clients, delivering excellence in strategy and service while working closely with internal teams to ensure work that’s on time, on budget and on target. She also helps lead growth in the division, further establishing our innovative dhmstudio+ solution as the leading platform for affordable, effective rural health marketing.
With a rising number of rural hospitals at risk of closure, the foundational goals of our Rural Health Division align seamlessly with Amy’s experience and commitment to the issues facing rural health providers, patients and communities today.
“Hospitals everywhere should be pillars of local health and strength, and no patient should have to relocate or travel hours to access that,” she says. “These are very real problems, but we do have real solutions, and I’m thrilled to join Dobies Health MarketingH in supporting rural health regionally and beyond.”
Before joining Dobies, Amy was the long-time Director of Marketing & Communications for a mid-size community hospital. In that role, she also directed the hospital’s media relations, community outreach and engagement initiatives. Previous career highlights include business development and physician relations roles at hospitals across the region. Earlier in her career, she held administrative roles in healthcare recruitment, managed care contracting, family medicine practice and more.
“Amy blends her passion for rural health with her mind for marketing strategy to create healthier communities,” said Julie Amor, President & Chief Strategy Officer. “Those same values and strengths are deeply woven into our mission here at Dobies Health Marketing, and we are very fortunate to have Amy as our newest leader and champion for rural health.”
As a native of rural Kansas and graduate of The University of Kansas School of Journalism, Amy earned her MBA from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Having previously served as a volunteer board member for the Endowment for Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center and the Douglas County Dental Clinic – both located in Lawrence, Kan. where she lives with her husband and four kids – Amy actively engages in enriching her community’s access to essential care.
