Dobies Health Marketing is pleased to announce the launch of its new product, soviews+, a comprehensive analysis of competitive messaging and advertising data that empowers healthcare leaders and marketers to make highly informed decisions about local advertising efforts:

Uniquely designed for healthcare marketers by healthcare marketers, soviews+ is an interactive, online profile that delivers hard-to-find data and specialized insight to help clients:

  • Determine if their current media investments and share of voice are enough to stay competitive
  • Gain clarity on where to place media dollars
  • Compare local marketing strategies to those of competitors
  • View multimedia samples from competitors’ ad campaigns

In particular, soviews+ is useful for organizations considering new market entrance or a brand refresh as well as those seeking an independent summary of current advertising strategies in their market. The online profile is also beneficial for clients that want to ensure a strategic data-driven approach to their marketing and positioning efforts.

With intelligence that goes beyond traditional media investment reports, soviews+ combines a detailed ad spend analysis with creative samples from television, print, digital, mobile, social media and digital properties across each client’s competitive landscape to compare share of voice, media mix, brand positioning and message platforms.

“Our clients have long wanted more than just a share of voice report,” said Carol Dobies, President. “A market profile from soviews+ lets clients view and compare what competitors are doing and saying in their local markets and brings meaningful, data-driven insight to guide successful marketing and advertising strategies.”

Strategic Healthcare Marketing Features Dobies Health Marketing Award-Winning Campaign

Megan's Journal (landing page): Healthcare Marketers tell patient story to showcase multidisciplinary cancer careAs a new employee at Dobies Health Marketing, I was impressed to learn that our firm was recently featured in Strategic Healthcare Marketing for our award-winning 2014 campaign, Megan’s Journal: A Personal Journey through Breast Cancer Treatment and Triumph.

You can read the full story in Strategic Healthcare Marketing here.

As the article explains, Megan’s Journal was created to generate awareness that Lawrence Memorial Hospital (LMH) offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary expertise for patients fighting breast cancer. The 13-week campaign incorporated digital, print, billboard and radio spots that drove visitors to an online journal chronicling the day-by-day journey of Megan, a real-life breast cancer patient, from testing and diagnosis through care and treatment, all of which she received at LMH.

Through this compelling, authentic and very popular campaign, Megan served as a virtual beacon, guiding others who are weighing their options and wondering if they have to travel outside their own community for the level of cancer care they need. Megan personified the scope of oncology-related expertise available at LMH, the only hospital in Lawrence.

In fact, the campaign was so effective that it increased the number of mammogram visits at LMH and drove more traffic to the hospital’s website. Moreover, the Megan’s Journal campaign received an Emerald Award from the Association of Health Care Communicators in 2014 and a Healthcare Advertising Award from Healthcare Marketing Report earlier this year.

Campaigns like Megan’s Journal remind me of the true potential of healthcare marketing and the impact that healthcare communicators  can have in the community—by not only promoting quality providers, but also enabling patients to make better health care decision by providing them with information about the options available to them. For a hospital like LMH, which is located close enough to Kansas City that outmigration is a constant concern, it’s important that people in the LMH service area understand the breadth and depth of healthcare expertise available to them in their own community. The success of this campaign and the impact it had on the patient population are (just) two of the many reasons I am proud to call Dobies Health Marketing my new home.

Two Dobies Health Marketing Clients Bring Home National Healthcare Advertising Awards

KANSAS CITY, MO – Dobies Health Marketing and our clients competed in the 32nd Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, announced on April 24, 2015. We submitted two campaigns and each won! Not bad odds given more than 3,500 entries were submitted, making this the largest healthcare advertising competition in the United States and Canada. Winning campaigns were selected for excellence in creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact. Many thanks to our great clients and exceptionally creative collaborators!

Hot for my Body adGOLD AWARD: ‘Hot for My Body’ Campaign for Midwest Transplant Network
Award Category: Health Promotion

This provocative campaign raised awareness of the need for organ donation in Kansas and Missouri with messaging and graphics designed to change the public’s perceptions of organ donors. As for results, the campaign exceeded industry standards and Midwest Transplant Network was pleased with the ROI.

“Our objective was to raise awareness that anyone can be a potential donor,” says Diane Morgan, Content Development Manager at Dobies Health Marketing. “We went with eye-catching headlines and visuals to help dispel the myth that some people are too young, too old, or too unhealthy for the donor registry.” That’s an important message to spread – and spread widely – so the campaign includes posters, brochures, radio and digital ads, a unique campaign landing page, social media advertising, and more.

Update: The Midwest Transplant Network campaign was also named Judge’s Choice in this year’s Aster Awards, one of only eight campaigns to receive this recognition for excellence in healthcare marketing and advertising in 2015.

Award Category: Total Ad Campaign without TV

Megan’s Journal followed a real patient’s journey through breast cancer diagnosis and treatment at LMH, detailing the struggles she overcame to become a cancer survivor. The campaign also won an Emerald Award from the Kansas Association of Health Care Communicators late last year. Campaign elements include the Megan’s Journal blog, print and digital ads, radio spots, and billboards.

“As a designer, I don’t always have the privilege of working directly with patients for ad campaigns,” says Shelly Searles, Creative Services Manager at Dobies Health Marketing. “That wasn’t the case with this project – Megan is a real patient who shared her compelling journey to cancer survivorship with us. Putting her at the center of creative infuses more emotion and authenticity, making the campaign more powerful.”

Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Dobies Health Marketing Win 2014 Emerald Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Last month, through its Emerald Awards program, the Kansas Association of Health Care Communicators (KAHCC) recognized the outstanding advertising achievements behind two recent campaigns from Lawrence Memorial Hospital (LMH). As LMH’s agency of record, Dobies Health Marketing developed and executed the two award-winning campaigns.

Both of LMH’s 2014 Emerald achievements were awarded in the Total Advertising Campaign category for larger hospitals. One campaign, called Megan’s Journal: A Personal Journey through Breast Cancer Treatment and Triumph, highlighted LMH’s multidisciplinary and comprehensive oncology care. It featured Megan, a 38-year-old breast cancer patient at LMH, who chronicled her journey online from diagnosis to survivorship. The 13-week campaign used a diverse media mix including digital, newspaper, billboard, radio and more to reach multiple audiences.

“Our primary objective was to increase awareness of the expertise and multidisciplinary approach at LMH, and we wanted patients to know they will receive this advanced care in a comfortable setting that’s close to home,” said Carol Dobies, Founder and President of Dobies Health Marketing.

The second campaign to receive a 2014 Emerald Award is “Smart Moms,” which was designed to promote the strengths of LMH’s Family Birthing Center. The marketing challenge for this campaign involved reaching potential maternity patients before they selected an OB-GYN provider outside the LMH network. The concept evolved around the notion that motherhood is full of tough choices, but choosing LMH’s Family Birthing Center is an easy choice to make. The integrated campaign included television, digital, newspaper, magazine, billboard, radio and more.

“It’s always exciting to win awards for our clients and be recognized for our work, but the awards themselves are never our focus at Dobies Health Marketing,” said Dobies. “We come to work every day to exceed expectations and deliver great results that align with our clients’ strategic healthcare marketing goals.”

She works closely with Dobies’ creative and account teams to oversee the development of print, digital, TV/radio/video production, photography, business document packaging and other client collaterals.

Jessica Myren, Account Coordinator, and Tabetha Vance, Client Finance Manager, both joined Dobies in late 2013. In addition to day-to-day coordination of client accounts and deliverables, Myren assists with plan/project execution, media buying, research initiatives and more. Vance, an accounting specialist for more than a decade, ensures all billing and financial relationships run smoothly for Dobies clients and vendors.

“Healthcare evolves so quickly – so much of what the industry recently considered ‘next gen’ is now the everyday norm,” says Dobies. “Today’s healthcare companies are turning to us for marketing and branding direction because they know they can trust our team to put strategy first every time.”

With its full house of healthcare marketing experts, Dobies adds, “We’re the smart choice for clients who want to turn industry challenges into market opportunities.”
